Questions & Answers

At Oracle mezzanine floors we are able to produce fast, accurate and competitive quotes, using up to date in house CAD drawing facilities along with an accurate production schedule based on actual manufacturing and installation team availability. All this is based on the information and input you give us at the site survey stage i.e what the mezzanine will be used for within your premises.

I am considering a mezzanine floor as one alternative in my development project. Is there a guideline cost that I could use for my feasibility study?

Costs will depend on the size, loading and specification of the floor. Oracle Mezzanine Floors and our distributors can provide fast track budgetary quotations for feasibility studies on request.

Is a site survey necessary?

Not always, however this service is without charge or obligation. (If you get a dimension wrong it will have a direct effect on the design and on the quote). A member of our team will call, at your convenience, to discuss your requirements. Our advanced quoting and mezzanine floor production system will produce the most efficient design possible from your requirements and the details you give us. We have set it up this way because we want you to get the optimum design at the best possible price.

Can I change the design at any stage?

Design modifications can be introduced during the first 2 weeks, although this may result in additional delay and cost once structure steelwork is completed.

The mezzanine floor quote you have given us is different to another we have received

It is likely that you will receive quotes from others that are based on the lowest specification they can get away with. At Oracle mezzanines our base specification for a floor and its ancillaries, is that dictated by best practice within the industry, currently BRE Digest 437, and the relevant British Standards. This protects you and most important of all, the people actually using the floor on a daily basis. So look out for companies trying to get away with inferior decking materials, insufficient bracing and lower steel specifications did they include kickboard on the mezzanine, did they include a loading plate for you up over pallet gate on the mezzanine?

Does the higher specification of Oracle’s mezzanine mean that it will be more expensive?

Not necessarily. Oracle mezzanines design the most efficient method of production so that we remain very competitive, giving you the best deal, safe in the knowledge that the floor you purchase, will be fully compliant with all building regulations and safety legislation, again looking after you and people working on and under the mezzanine floor.

What about Building Regulations? Who makes sure the mezzanine floor design, manufacture and installation is fully compliant?

Oracle mezzanine floors will, if you want us to. On most projects, Oracle mezzanine floors takes full responsibility for this and ensures that every aspect of the build is fully checked and approved.
There is a charge for doing this for you, this depends on the value of the project but usually mezzanine floors under 50k will have occur an additional cost of £650.00 + vat. we also use a fast track system that allows approval to go through within 10- 14 working days on them receiving the CAD drawings & calculations.

Once the order has been placed, how quickly will things get moving?

Our trained surveyors conduct full design site surveys and inspections within one week of the order being placed with Oracle Mezzanine Floors. Having this expertise in-house allows us to respond quickly and to ensure that the surveyor is very familiar with site requirements and specific issues surrounding the erection of mezzanine floors.

A typical project timetable is as follows:

Week 1 - Detailed site survey then design and production of general arrangement (GA) drawing
Week 2 - Client approval of design and GA
Week 3 - Structural steel manufacture
Week 4 - Mezzanine installation

During the installation, how can I be sure that health and safety measures are being adhered to?

Installation is carried out through a network of specialist, locally based, teams experienced and qualified in the handling and erection of mezzanine floors. All team members operate to appropriate site safety protocols approved and monitored by our appointed Health and Safety consultant.

Are your operatives fully trained?

Operatives are fully insured and trained to operate required equipment and are certified to nationally approved standards. All teams have completed the CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) and, where appropriate, are also SEIRS (Storage Equipment Installers Registration Scheme) trained.
